The G-BA determines what is covered by the SHI funds and thus specifies which services in medical care are reimbursed. In addition, they control quality management and quality assurance in contract medical, contract dental, and hospital care. In order to fulfill these tasks, the G-BA develops and publishes numerous directives. These are sub-statutory norms and are legally binding for everyone with SHI and stakeholders of the GKV.
